HOW TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY DURING A HEATWAVE

Staying safe during a heatwave requires taking several precautionary measures to protect yourself from extreme temperatures and prevent heat-related illnesses. Here are certain significant precautions:

1.       Vehicle Related

  1. Make sure that your vehicle is free of gas materials, Lighters, Water bottles on dashboard and seats in direct sunlight, perfumes and batteries of any kind.
  2. Keep car windows slightly open for ventilation.
  3. Avoid filling the fuel tank completely.
  4. Refuel the car during the evening hours.
  5. Do not overinflate car tires, especially when traveling.
  6. Never leave people or pets in the car.

2.       General

  1. Keep gas cylinders out of direct sunlight.
  2. Avoid overloading power meters. Use air conditioners or air coolers only in occupied areas of the house, particularly during peak heat times.
  3. Minimize direct exposure to sunlight, especially between 10 AM and 3 PM.
  4. Be aware of scorpions and snakes, which may emerge from their burrows and enter farms and houses in search of cooler places.
  5. Wear light clothing, use sunglasses, and wear a hat or cover your head and face.
